We develop innovative and groundbreaking tools in machine learning and biophysics to understand, predict, and improve the immune response to viruses. Immunology is now a data-rich discipline, and the main limitation of modeling efforts is in where and how creatively we apply them. This is where art meets science.
We are always interested in adding new members to our team!
We work at the intersection of biology, computer science, physics, and statistics. Our lab is 100% computational, although we collaborate closely with experimentalists in San Diego and across the US to develop more effective vaccines and treatments.

Postdoctoral Fellows or Staff Scientists

We are seeking researchers who want to pursue daring and creative work. Projects are underway to develop new algorithmic approaches to understand antibody-virus interactions, as well as to translate these results into next-generation vaccines that induce strong, broad, and long-lasting protection. There are many exciting directions to explore, and we believe in fostering independence and giving each lab member the freedom to perform their very best science.
Qualifications include:
  • PhD in any quantitative science (such as physics, computer science, statistics, etc.), a PhD in the life sciences with a strong computational/quantitative background, or equivalent expertise from multi-year hands-on experience in these areas. You will acquire any missing domain/biological knowledge with us
  • Strong analytical, programming, or machine learning skills are especially valued
  • Experience with immunology or virology is valued but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A record of multiple publications

PhD or MD/PhD students

Positions are available for students with experience and/or interest in data analysis or vaccine-oriented research.
We take students from any department, but we recommend the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BISB) program.
For inquiries: Please familiarize yourself with our research and email tal.einav@lji.org to describe your background and the position you are applying for. Postdocs and staff scientists should provide contact information for three references.
